The general director of Administración Portuaria Integral de Quintana Roo (Apiqroo), Alicia Ricalde Magaña reported that for company joined the #BasuraChallenge campaign, viral challenge that consists to locate a place where there is garbage, clean the area detected and depositing waste in bags.
She said about 50 people, including employees of Apiqroo, fishermen of the Social Justice cooperative, shipping lines personnel providing service to Isla Mujeres and citizens of the island, today participated in these activities to be undertaken in all ports that the company operates and manages in the state.
She said the first challenge activities #BasuraChellenge took place in Isla Mujeres, where an area of 423 linear meters of Avenida Rueda Medina was cleaned, ahead of the ferry pier.
“About seven and a half tons of garbage collected and these are actions that allow to create greater awareness among the population to improve and preserve our environment,” she said.
Ricalde Magaña said that the challenge will take place tomorrow at the terminal of Puerto Juarez with the participation of Apiqroo staff, tourist cooperatives and shipping lines, as well as the participation of the area population.
