Isla Mujeres.- The General Director of Administración Portuaria Integral de Quintana Roo (Apiqroo), Alicia Ricalde Magaña reported that works in coordination with shipping lines to implement strategies to raise security levels offered to users of marine terminals, both tourists and residents.
The state official said that during the regular session of operations commitee she led in Isla Mujeres, where representations of tourism service providers as well as authorities at all three levels of government participated, it was agreed that shipping lines will implement passenger control systems via scanner.
The director of the APIQROO said that through this system, since the passengers buy their tickets to board the ferry, their image will be captured along with their luggage themselves to be confirmed when boarding the ship, measures that will allow to have the exact control of the number of passengers on board along with their names.
The head of Apiqroo indicated that security measures being put in place require the passenger to arrive with enough time in advance to board the ship.
Alicia Ricalde said that ensuring the safety of tourists and residents is a special indication of Governor Carlos Joaquin, so the necessary resourses will be apply to meet the objective.
