In coordination with the Federal Maritime Terrestria zonel (Zofemat), staff Administracion Portuaria Integral de Quintana Roo (Apiqroo) of Cozumel and Isla Mujeres cleaned the beaches from sargazo at maritime terminals in both destinations.
Alicia Ricalde Magaña, head of Apiqroo, reported that cleaning included nearly 40 partners from Zofemat and Apiqroo, which adds to the actions of the government of Quintana Roo, headed by Carlos Joaquin, to keep in good condition beaches from the entity.
“In Cozumel, cleaning started from eight in the morning and will continue throughout the week to keep the beaches clean near to our facilities. All material was transferred to deposits established by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (Sema)”, she said.
She explained that in the Isla of Cozumel the sandbanks on both sides of the maritime terminal of San Miguel, where the esplanade of the flag of Mexico and diver sculpture are located, are cleaned.
While in Isla Mujeres, Ricalde Magaña said that cleanup began at three in the afternoon. “I recognize the work done by the Apiqroo and Zofemat staff to keep beaches clean in both destinations”
