Cozumel.- The General Director of Administración Portuaria Integral de Quintana Roo (Apiqroo), Alicia Ricalde Magaña reported that in coordination with the secretariats of the Navy (Semar) and National Defense (SEDENA), security will be strengthened at maritime terminals which operates and manages the company to ensure the integrity of users in the next period of Easter holidays.
The State official noted that these actions will be held from 15 to 26 next April, a period that make up the school holidays, also municipal and state authorities are involved.
She explained that about 25 thousand passengers a day are expected at the maritime terminal of San Miguel, in Cozumel, as well as around 26 thousand users in the pier at Isla Mujeres.
Ricalde Magaña said that yesterday she held a meeting with representatives of Semar, Sedena, harbormaster, Attorney General’s Office (PGR) and shipping lines as well as federal and municipal police to coordinate security measures that shall apply in each of the terminals that Apiqroo operate and manages.
Semar and SEDENA randomly patrol the maritime terminal of Cozumel, where also the municipal police of Isla de las Golondrinas will patrol inside the terminal to control access to passenger areas, she said
She said it is a priority for the government of Carlos Joaquín that people from Quintana Roo and the visitors have the full confidence to visit any tourist destination of the entity. “These are dates that there is a large influx of passengers on our terminals, hence the need to reinforce security measures”.
